US State Department Works with African Union to Connect Continent

Last week, Ambassador Daniel Sepulveda led the U.S. delegation to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the African Union’s ICT Week. In this blog, Sepulveda announces that the U.S. will provide technical training to the AU and Regional Economic Community officials to improve broadband connectivity in Africa. He also says the U.S. Department of State will support Africa in ensuring that internet governance institutions, from ICANN to Internet Society to the World Wide Web, are more inclusive and evolve to better address the needs and perspectives of the developing world.

Daniel Sepulveda serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs. The Department of State is a founding member of A4AI.
