Phase3 Pilots E-Learning Initiative in Nigerian Schools

A4AI member Phase3 Telecom recently announced that it is piloting an e-Learning initiative, called 3CEi, in 10 Nigerian schools to improve ICT knowledge in the education sector. The company is providing the necessary software and digital hardware to schools as part of the initiative, which includes learning programs made into an audio-visual format in English and French. These programs will also be converted to local languages Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba soon.

Following the pilot programs, Phase3 plans for this initiative to expand to the national level while providing support for rural development. The 3CEi e-Learning initiative was created in 2013 to help build a solid foundation for Nigerian students in ICT knowledge development at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

E-Learning wholly or in part uses information network which includes the internet, an intranet (LAN) or extranet (WAN) for course delivery, interaction, evaluation and/or facilitation. Online or web-based learning are both subsets of e-learning and refer to learning using an internet browser.
