A4AI appoints Olusola Teniola as new National Coordinator for Nigeria

We’re pleased to announce Mr. Olusola Teniola as our new National Coordinator for Nigeria. Mr. Teniola takes over from Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, who led the National Coalition since its inception in 2015.

As National Coordinator, Olusola will oversee the work of the A4AI Nigeria coalition to drive down the cost of internet access in the country. He has over 23 years of global ICT experience working in strategic management positions at several major telecom companies. He was instrumental in the rollout of mobile and broadband services by World Telecom in Portugal (2003 – 2007) and has served in executive positions at British Telecom, Vodafone, Cisco Inc. and Alcatel-Lucent Technologies. Olusola was previously the CEO and board member of IS Internet Solutions (a Dimension Data company) in Lagos, Nigeria and briefly CEO of Phase3 Telecom based in Abuja before deciding to launch out on his own. He was once the Client Partner to Detecon Consulting GmBH leading Nigeria and Ghana opportunities in Africa. He is the current ATCON President until April 2020.

The newly-appointed Olusola Teniola said:

“I’m delighted to be working with the A4AI team and honoured by the confidence they have in me as I assume my new role. I’ve got big shoes to fill. I look forward to amplifying the voice of coalition members on key issues impacting affordability in Nigeria through strong collaboration between government, civil society and private sector players.”

Executive Director of A4AI Sonia Jorge said:

“I’m excited to have Olusola on board and look forward to his leadership to support the renewed vision of a digital economy for Nigeria. I’m also grateful to Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, whose leadership shaped the A4AI Nigeria coalition and helped bring down the cost to connect for millions of people in Nigeria.”

Dr. Ernest Ndukwe was responsible for growing the Nigeria coalition, successfully leading policy change which helped Nigeria to achieve affordable internet data costs of 1.6% of average monthly income.
