Calling All African Artists: Logo Design Contest for Africa Summit on Women and Girls in Technology

This contest is now closed. View the winning logo and honorable mentions!

What is your vision of Africa’s digital future and the power of women and girls in creating it?

All women and girls deserve the opportunity to take part in the technology that is transforming our world. Bridging the digital gender gap is a critical step toward the vision of a thriving Africa—yet women are up to 50% less likely than men to be online, and the number of women in science and technology is alarmingly low. We believe that women’s access, use, creation and leadership in ICT is vital to unlocking Africa’s digital future.

Determined to tackle these barriers, we are organising an annual Summit on Women and Girls in Technology in Africa.

The inaugural summit will to take place in Accra, Ghana on September 13-14, 2016 (mark your calendars!). Through this first-ever event, we will bring together brilliant female leaders from across Africa to design solutions that will enable millions of African women and girls to benefit from access to technology—and use their skills to build a better Africa for all.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a creative, fun, colorful and inspiring logo designed by an African artist to show the world our vision. You can find more details on the summit and its goals here: Africa Summit on Women and Girls in Technology. The design will be used for this first and future editions of the Summit.

Keywords: Africa, information and communication technology (ICT), Internet, women and girls, gender equality, female empowerment

Requirements for the logo:

  • The logos should be presented in both black-and-white and color
  • Delivered in multiple formats (e.g. EPS, PNG and SVG)
